Galed (600 x 420; 26.4kB )

I was at a bit of a loss as to which painting to hang here. Perhaps some would be reluctant to see themselves on the web, especially when drinking! I'm told the Australian rugby team were very impressed with the Galed (not its real name) they likened it to similar establishments in the outback. Donk from Crocodile Dundee would be quite at home here. It's a sort of Welsh billabong, with strong water. I only sketched in the outline of the pool table for this painting. Although the characters are based on typical customers, any similarity to actual people is purely coincidental.

I painted them directly with watercolour starting with weak burnt sienna. This transparent pigment washes off easily without leaving much stain. I remember I had to alter the relative sizes and positions of the balls and I'm not sure if I made the right decision as to the colour of the cloth, or my choice of partner in this game. I quickly painted in the background to loosely represent my memory of the Galed. I think I will check my accuracy now. Cheers. Ω
